Exam Schedule and Registration

Yes. You must be an individual member prior to registering for an exam. It is recommended that you join ATA at least four weeks before the exam date to allow time for processing. Learn more about ATA membership.

Registration is $525 and includes all administrative and grading expenses.

ATA must receive your exam registration and payment at least two weeks before the in person exam date. Because all sittings have a limited capacity, registration will close when the sitting is sold out. There are no wait lists for sold out exams, but space may become available if cancellations occur.

The practice test is an excellent way to measure your readiness for the exam. It consists of an exam passage from a previous year and is designed to provide a practical introduction to the nature of the exam and how errors are marked. Read more here.

Not in the same language combination. You may take the exam in a different language combination in the same year.

With the exception of the ATA Annual Conference, exams are only scheduled at the request of chapters, groups, or agencies. To request an exam in your area, contact your local chapter.

If several translators request a sitting, and an affordable site and proctor are available, an exam sitting may be scheduled. Contact the ATA Certification Program Manager to make a request.
